The Story of CYLAN
CANYON Sports Ltd. was specialised in the development, manufacture and sale of bicycles was founded in Biel in 1997. The range extended from children's bicycles to professional racing bikes.

Two years later, we began developing e-bikes. The 100% Swiss-made electric bicycles were sold under the CANYON brand and went on sale in 2010.

In 2013, we switched to Panasonic drive systems and outsourced the production of the e-bikes to Taipei. The electric bicycles were produced there, as they still are today, to Swiss standards. Testing and final assembly then took place at our premises in Pieterlen.

The following year, we expanded our range to include Bosch drive systems. In 2016, we replaced Panasonic with Shimano. Development continued in Pieterlen, while production remained with our partner in Taiwan. Back in Switzerland, we thoroughly tested the e-bikes and carried out fine-tuning. We continue to uphold these standards today.

Twenty-three years after the founding of CANYON Sports Ltd., we decided to undergo a rebranding. CANYON Switzerland became CYLAN. In addition to all e-bike models, we also offered "conventional" city bikes and children's bicycles. The following year, our focus shifted exclusively to e-bikes. We also switched to direct sales to continue upholding the philosophy that has guided us since our founding: "quality at the best possible price".
